HOW TO GET THERE
By Road
Via Namanga- Branch from the Nairobi-Arusha road at Namanga (240 km) and take the main road leading into the park via Meshanani Gate. Tarmac extends up to Namanga but the section leading from Namanga to Meshanani Gate (stretching about 75km) is in bad shape.
Via Emali- Branch from the Nairobi-Mombasa road at Emali and negotiate the murram road leading to Remito Gate (64 km) Access from Mombasa is mainly through Tsavo West via Kimana (Olkelunyiet) Gate.
The park has five gates: Kelunyiet, lremito, Ilmeshanan; Kitirua and Airstrip
By Air
Use the airstrip for light aircraft at Empusel gate. Other airstrips in use are located at Kilimanjaro Buffalo lodge and Namanga town.
Park Roads
The distribution of the road network is adequate but navigating during the wet season is a major challenge owing to the loose ashy nature of volcanic soil. Conditions during the during the dry season are dusty.
