Rising to a height of 2,776 m, Mt Longonot offers a spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha. Mt Longonot definitely lives up to its name, which is derived from the Masai word meaning “mountain of many steep ridges/spurs”, with its beautiful v-shaped valleys and ridges.

HOW TO GET THERE


By Road

Use the turn off from the Nairobi-Naivasha highway past Mai Mahiu town

Park Roads

Are non-existent owing to the nature of the terrain leaving only hiking trails leading to the rim of the crater 

Located
In the Rift Valley province about 90 km from Nairobi and covering an area of 52 sq km

Weather Conditions

Are hot and dry with annual rainfall ranging from 510 to 760mm and temperatures of 26 to 30 C.
